OnePlus India: Out of the Blue
Animation, Art Direction and 3D
In summer 2022, I collaborated with Delhi-based Doozy Media and OnePlus India to art direct, animate, and produce a suite of creative collateral for the OnePlus Out Of the Blue campaign. My primary responsibility was the development of a 60-second hero animation that visualised an abstract, otherworldly seascape inspired by marine life from the Indian Ocean—drawing a conceptual link between the phone’s unique blue finish and the rich, dynamic colours of underwater ecosystems.
The process began with concept exploration and moodboarding, mapping textures, lighting, and movement references from coral reefs, ocean currents, and bioluminescent organisms. From there, I developed style frames and motion studies to establish the visual language—balancing organic fluidity with sleek, tech-oriented forms to reflect the OnePlus design ethos.
Production Process
In production, I used a combination of 3D modelling, procedural animation, and particle simulations to create a dynamic environment that felt immersive and cinematic. Particular attention was given to colour grading and material response, ensuring the blues, silvers, and aqua tones resonated with the Prime Blue Edition’s branding. The animation was designed for multiple aspect ratios and optimised for social media playback, with a strong emphasis on looping potential and high-impact opening frames to capture attention quickly.
The finished piece became a centrepiece of the campaign, rolled out across OnePlus India’s social media platforms, as well as in supporting promotional materials. To date, the animation has generated over 5.2 million interactions, helping position the Prime Blue Edition as a distinctive and aspirational release within the Indian market.
