The 'DOLLI' Eyes

Originally conceived for Sotheby’s London as part of Pauline Karpidas: The London Collection, The DOLLI Eyes began as a monumental golden façade installation overlooking New Bond Street. I designed the sculpture as a pair of surreal visual thresholds, a gateway between the everyday and the extraordinary.

Following the record-breaking Sotheby’s auction, the work travelled from London to Athens, where it found a permanent new home on the historic façade of The Dolli at Acropolis. Set against the hotel’s restored 1925 neoclassical architecture and looking towards the Acropolis, the installation takes on a new relationship with the city, its history and the people moving through the streets below.

The relocation also completes an unexpected circle. The DOLLI stands in the neighbourhood where Pauline Karpidas opened her first fashion boutique, My Fair Lady, after moving to Athens. What began as an installation inspired by her life and collection has returned to a place closely connected to the beginning of that story, reframed as a permanent landmark within the city.
